Self-regulating heating cables are unique in that they have the ability to vary their power output along the entire length of the circuit in response to ambient temperature changes. As the temperature decreases the cable will respond by increasing power to compensate until equilibrium is achieved. The cable will decrease it's output as ambient temperatures rises. Self-Regulating heating cables are ideally suited for freeze protection and process temperature applications. A wide held belief is that self-regulating cables do not require a switching device, however we recommend that all self-regulating cables be used with one in order to save energy and extend the life of the cable.
